About the Church

A growing church with a rich heritage

St. Stephen's Buwambo traces its origins to around 1910, when Omwami wa Kabaka Meshach Kintu Ssebalijja established a place of worship at his residence and later provided land for the church. The first church was built with mud walls and a grass-thatched roof.

Over the years, the church was reconstructed four times. Two of the earlier buildings were grass-roofed, while the later structures were roofed with iron sheets. The foundation stone of the present church was laid on 22 November 1969 by The Rt. Rev. Dr. D. K. Nsubuga, Bishop of Namirembe Diocese.

Future vision: To become a Parish.
